Down the stretch

The race is essentially over. The chance of McCain winning in every state he needs to win is so small that it's almost impossible. Yesterday, Mark Leibovich in the New York Times compared the scenario to a football play. He wrote, "Few spectacles are more satisfying than seeing a football player strutting toward the end zone, only to be tackled out of nowhere at the 1-yard line, causing a humiliating fumble."
